Dr P.L.T.Girija, Founder, Sanjeevani Ayurveda &Yoga Centre gave a presentation at the Scientific Seminar on Potential Contributions of Ayurveda in Contemporary Society as part of the Arya Vaidyan P.V.Rama Varier Birth Centenary Celebration 2007-2008 held at Chennai under the topic Effective Mother & Child Care in Ayurveda.

Her audio-visual presentation highlighted pregnancy care, child birth and post delivery care according to Ayurveda. The presentation particularly highlighted very high levels of anaemia among women, pregnant mothers and children in India and how this problem is taken care of when pregnant mothers are looked  after especially with the monthwise food regimen recommended in Ayurveda. She pointed out the need to put an end to harmful, unscientific modern obstretic practice of episiotomy. Her experience with child birth at Sanjeevani especially the use of nasyam to enhance labour was pointed out. The meeting was attended by Ayurvedic Vaidhyas, students and others.
